The island of Curacao is in the Southern Caribbean Sea just off the Venezuelan coast and is included in the ABC Islands, being the largest of the three. Curacao has a land area of 444 sq km and is the most populated of all the ABC Islands with the population in January 2009 recorded at 141,766. Landhuizen are country houses which were built in Willemstad by the Dutch in the 18th and 19th centuries, they were usually built on hills insuring a good vantage point. Landhuizen were all built as plantation houses for the sugar plantation industry with close to 100 plantations on Curacao, some of their names are Pannekoek, Dokerstuin amongst others. It is quite astounding how many of these houses have survived being built so long ago. There are about 55 more to be found at different locations on the island with several open to public viewing.

Cas Abou Beach - Cas Abou Beach is located along the western coastline of Curacao and is a very pretty and sandy beach with clear turquoise waters and waving palm trees. It has been named as one of the most well kept beaches on the island of Curacao and has something for all the family to enjoy. You can curl up on the sand under a palm tree with a good book and watch the world go by, or if feeling a little more adventurous enjoy the wide range of water sports.
Klein Curacao - Klein Curacao is an uninhabited island with a beautiful beach which can only be accessed by taking a mermaid boat trip as it is away from all the busy hustle and bustle of the main island. It is a flat windswept beach and has white sandy beaches, clear waters and colorful reef and beautiful sea life being popular with divers, snorkelers and sunbathers alike. Klein Curacao is Dutch for little Curacao. The boat takes 2 hours from Fishermanís Pier.
